The Seven Mountains of Culture is a framework for understanding how influence actually flows through a society. It identifies seven key spheres — Religion, Family, Education, Government, Media, Arts & Entertainment, and Business — as the primary levers of cultural power.

The framework was not invented as a political strategy. It emerged from the recognition that every culture is shaped by the institutions that control information, law, identity, imagination, and resources. Whoever occupies the high ground on these mountains sets the terms for everyone below.

The conflict happening across each of these mountains right now is not coincidental. It follows a documented, repeatable pattern — and understanding that pattern is the first step toward an effective response.

The Mountain of Moral Authority

Religion is the mountain that determines who defines right and wrong. When this sphere is healthy and occupied by biblical Christianity, it provides the transcendent anchor for every other mountain. When it is captured or neutralized, a culture loses the only objective basis for morality — and replaces it with shifting social consensus.

The battle here is over the definition of reality itself. Attacks on this mountain take the form of redefining biblical doctrine from within, pressuring churches to affirm positions contrary to scripture, and delegitimizing religious authority in public discourse.

"For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear."

The Source of Moral Authority

Once morality is decoupled from transcendent truth and made a product of social negotiation, every other mountain becomes vulnerable. Law, education, and culture all depend on an agreed-upon definition of good and evil.

Infiltration of Doctrine

Progressive theology enters institutions quietly — first as inclusion, then as affirmation, then as the new orthodoxy. Dissenters are labeled as hateful or backward. The capture follows the five-phase pattern exactly.

Fix the doctrinal standard and make it non-negotiable. Vet leadership using the 2 Timothy 2:2 protocol: Content, Character, and Competence. Build generational transfer into the institution now — before pressure arrives.

Family
The Mountain of Identity & Relationships

The family is the foundational unit of civilization — responsible for the formation of identity, the transmission of values across generations, and the maintenance of social stability. This sphere includes the structure of marriage, the philosophy of parenting, child development, and the understanding of gender.

Influence over the family mountain determines whether the next generation views themselves as created beings with duties to God and community — or as autonomous individuals defined entirely by self-expression and personal desire.

The Transfer of Values

The family is the only institution that transfers values biologically and relationally across generations. If this transfer is interrupted — through the state, through media, through educational ideology — the next generation inherits a different worldview entirely.

How It Is Targeted

Redefining the Institution

Marriage is redefined. Parental authority is undermined by school policy. Gender formation is treated as a state function, not a parental one. The family becomes a jurisdiction dispute: does authority belong to the parent or the state?

The church must become the active support structure for Christian families — providing community, resources, and doctrinal clarity on marriage and parenting that equips families to resist external pressure and transmit faith intact.

Education
The Mountain of Knowledge & Formation

Education determines how the next generation thinks — what they believe to be true, what they aspire toward, and how they interpret reality. Control of this mountain allows for the installation of a specific worldview before students ever reach adulthood or voting age.

The capture of education is not primarily about curriculum content — it is about the epistemological framework through which all content is filtered. Once a generation is trained to evaluate truth through the lens of identity and power rather than evidence and revelation, the mountain is taken.

The Worldview Operating System

Whoever educates a generation installs the software through which they will interpret all future information. A captured education system produces graduates who cannot recognize the framework through which they were formed.

How It Is Targeted

Curriculum & Hiring

Activists prioritize search committees, shift hiring criteria toward ideological fit, and introduce new academic sub-disciplines that reframe historical reality through the lens of power and oppression. Parents are excluded as unqualified.

The Counter-Strategy

Build Parallel Institutions

Classical Christian schools, homeschool networks, and university alternatives. Christians must build sovereign educational institutions that cannot be captured — and must participate aggressively in school board governance where the public system is still reformable.

Government
The Mountain of Authority & Law

Government is the sphere of coercive power. It includes the legislative processes that create law, the judicial systems that interpret it, and the executive agencies that enforce it. Government holds the unique power to codify cultural values into binding law and to punish dissent through force.

The Christian engagement with government is often paralyzed by bad theology — either total withdrawal or theocratic takeover. The biblical model, demonstrated by Paul as a Roman citizen and Daniel in the Babylonian court, is neither. It is strategic, legal, and relentless engagement from within the system.

"For the one in authority is God's servant for your good... Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also as a matter of conscience."

What Is at Stake

The Codification of Values

Law is not neutral. Every law encodes a value system. When government is captured, the values of those in power become the legally enforced standard — and dissent from those values becomes legally punishable.

Regulatory Capture & Prosecutorial Bias

Progressive prosecutors selectively enforce law. Administrative agencies create regulations that bypass legislative process. Christians are increasingly targeted for beliefs held for millennia, reframed as civil rights violations.

The Counter-Strategy

Engage the Machinery

Vote in every election at every level. Run for school boards, city councils, and local offices. Develop expertise in administrative law. Support Christian legal organizations. Assert rights — as Paul did — before the window closes.

Media
The Mountain of Narrative & Perception

Media controls the flow of information and the interpretation of reality. This sphere encompasses journalism, news reporting, digital platforms, and social media. Its primary power is narrative control: it decides which stories are told, how they are framed, and who is presented as the hero or the villain in public consciousness.

By determining what is considered "normal" or "acceptable," media acts as the gatekeeper of public perception. It does not just report on cultural change — it manufactures the social consensus that makes cultural change feel inevitable and opposition feel extreme.

The Manufacture of Consensus

Media does not merely reflect public opinion — it creates it. When Christians are consistently portrayed as bigots, and their opponents as victims, the social cost of holding biblical positions rises until silence becomes the path of least resistance.

Narrative Framing & Amplification

Alinsky's Rule 5 (Ridicule) and Rule 12 (Personalize and Polarize) are the primary media weapons. A local controversy is amplified to national outrage. A pastor's sermon is clipped and decontextualized. The goal is isolation and humiliation.

The Counter-Strategy

Build Sovereign Communication

The Mountain of Imagination & Desire

While media speaks to the mind, arts and entertainment speak to the heart. This sphere includes film, television, music, literature, visual arts, and sports. It shapes the emotions, aspirations, and imaginations of a culture — making specific worldviews emotionally compelling and alternatives emotionally repellent.

Arts and entertainment bypass rational defenses. A theological argument can be rebutted. A story cannot be unfealt. Whoever controls what a culture loves, what it fears, and what it desires controls its future far more effectively than any law or policy.

"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is — his good, pleasing and perfect will."

The Formation of Desire

Entertainment shapes what people want before they can articulate why. A generation raised on a specific cultural mythology will defend those values intuitively — not because they were argued into them, but because they were storied into them.

How It Is Targeted

Narrative Replacement

Heroes are redefined. Villains are recast. Traditional family structures are portrayed as oppressive. Biblical morality is presented as the source of harm. The stories change before the laws do — and the laws follow the stories.

The Counter-Strategy

Create with Excellence

Christians must produce art, film, music, and literature of genuine quality — not propaganda with a cross on it, but honest, excellent creative work that reflects the full weight of biblical reality. Patronize Christian artists. Build the infrastructure for Christian culture.

Business
The Mountain of Resources & Commerce

Business controls the material conditions of life. It includes corporate structures, capital markets, labor systems, science, and technological innovation. Economic power is not merely financial — it is the capacity to reward compliance and punish dissent at scale, without the legal constraints that limit government.

ESG frameworks, DEI mandates, and corporate activism represent the weaponization of the business mountain against traditional values. When a corporation can effectively make a Christian employee's career contingent on affirming positions contrary to their faith, government is no longer the primary instrument of coercion.

Economic Leverage Over Conscience

When your livelihood depends on affirming values you believe are wrong, the economic mountain becomes a weapon of compelled speech. Christians who cannot build sovereign economic alternatives will face an increasingly narrow space to operate with integrity.

How It Is Targeted

ESG, DEI & Corporate Pressure

Environmental, Social, and Governance frameworks embed ideological compliance into investment and supply chain decisions. DEI requirements filter hiring and promotion. The result is a corporate ecosystem that systematically disadvantages traditional Christian values.

The Counter-Strategy

Build the Parallel Economy

Gets Taken.

Institutional capture follows a five-phase sequence across every cultural mountain. The pattern is consistent, documented, and recognizable — once you know what to look for. By Phase 4, the window to respond without catastrophic cost is nearly closed.

Infiltration

Activists enter the institution quietly — through hiring, curriculum committees, or leadership pipelines. The ideological shift is invisible at this stage.

Normalization

New frameworks and language are introduced under neutral labels. Objectors are told they are misunderstanding — the changes are merely procedural or inclusive.

Pressure

External organizations apply simultaneous pressure. Internal affinity groups amplify it. Leadership is exhausted managing a state of continuous manufactured crisis.

Crisis

A specific test case is manufactured. Leaders are forced into a binary choice: full capitulation or personal destruction. The middle ground is eliminated by design.

Capture

The institution is purged and consolidated. Bylaws are rewritten. Dissenters self-select out. The capture is celebrated as progress. It cannot be reversed from within.

Never Fight Alone
